What makes a smart key different
A smart key talks to your car continuously over a short-range radio link. There is often no blade to cut at all — the whole job is electronic. That means a hardware-store key cutter cannot help you, and it is why dealer quotes for these are high.
We carry manufacturer-level diagnostic equipment that codes proximity keys through the vehicle's own system, on site.

Can you program a smart key without the original?

Almost always a flat fob battery. The backup induction reader is doing the work. A new battery usually fixes it entirely.
Are smart keys more expensive to replace?
Yes, because the hardware and the programming are both more involved. We're still typically well under dealer pricing.
