Fitting is most of the job
A good lock fitted badly is a bad lock. Most of the failures we're called out to repair are not worn hardware, they are locks that were never aligned correctly: the bolt catching the strike plate, the door dropping on its hinges, a rebate cut a few millimetres off.
That is why we chisel and align rather than just screwing a new set onto the old holes. A lock that throws cleanly will still throw cleanly in ten years.

Getting the whole house on one key
If you are installing more than one lock, have them keyed alike while we are there. One key for the front door, back door and garage is far easier to live with than a bunch on a ring, and it costs nothing extra to set up at installation.
It can be done later, but it means a second visit.
Common questions
Can you fit a lock to a door that has none?
Yes. Cutting a new mortice and fitting a strike takes longer than swapping an existing lock, but it is routine work. Tell us when you call so we allow the time.
Will a new lock fit my existing holes?
Often, but not always. Send us a photo of the current lock when you call and we will tell you before we come out.
Can all my doors use the same key?
Yes, if the locks are compatible. It is much cheaper to set up during installation than as a separate job later.
My door sticks. Will a new lock fix it?
Probably not on its own. A sticking door is usually alignment, and we would adjust that as part of the fitting rather than leaving you with the same problem and a newer lock.
Do you supply the locks or do I?
Either. We carry good-quality stock, but if you have already bought something we are happy to fit it.
